Horse pastures that have begun to scrub over, with luxuriant hedgerows and a few patches of damp ground, acquired by the Woodland Trust as part of its Woods on Your Doorstep millennium project. Some trees have been planted to screen the A127 to the north and horse grazing will continue to keep the flower-rich grassland open. A good selection of birds nest in the hedgerows and scrub.

Visiting

Reached via a footpath running east from Front Lane, Cranham. Front Lane can be entered from the A127 westbound about 1km beyond M25 junction 29 or from the B187 (St Mary's Lane) about 2km east of Upminster centre.

Buses 248 from Upminster station stops on Front Lane a short way from the entrance footpath.

Accessible at all times.
